Pod vapes after the disposable ban

Single-use vapes are gone from UK shops. Here is how pod kits, prefilled pods and refillable pods work, and which flavours carry on.

Welcome to PopVapor

PopVapor is an editorial site about pod vapes in the UK. We write guides and keep a flavour library. We are not a shop, so there is nothing to buy here and no basket to fill.

Single-use vapes stopped being sold in the UK on 1 June 2025. Plenty of people who relied on them now need a pod kit, and the choice between prefilled and refillable pods is not obvious. Our guides walk through it in plain English.

Every page is written to the UK limits on nicotine strength and pod size, carries the date it was last updated, and gets corrected when someone points out a mistake.

Our guides sit under four topics: vape kits, pods and coils, e-liquid and UK vape laws. Whether you are moving off disposables for the first time or tuning a refillable kit you already own, start with the topic that matches where you are.

If you only read one section, make it UK vape laws. It explains what the single-use ban covers, what is still legal to sell, and why every pod you can buy now holds 2ml or less.

Pod vapes in the UK: what changed

On 1 June 2025 it became illegal for UK shops to sell or supply single-use vapes. The ban came in under separate regulations in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, but the rules line up: a vape now has to be rechargeable, and its pod or tank has to be refillable or replaceable. Anything thrown away once the battery or liquid runs out can no longer be sold.

The other limits did not change. Nicotine e-liquid is still capped at 20mg/ml, a tank or pod can hold no more than 2ml, and refill bottles of nicotine liquid stop at 10ml. That is why the big-puff devices with oversized tanks that some people bought in the past are not legal products here.

For most people coming off disposables, the practical choice is between two kinds of pod kit. Prefilled pod kits use sealed pods that arrive full, so you click one in and swap it when it runs dry. Refillable pod kits use an empty pod you fill from a bottle, which costs less over time and opens up far more flavours. Both keep the battery and charge it, so there is far less waste than there was.
