How Many Puffs Are in 10ml of E-Liquid?

How many puffs you get from a 10ml bottle of e-liquid, why there's no single answer, and the variables that make the real number go up or down.

There's no single number. How many puffs you get from 10ml depends on your device, its power, how long each puff is, and how hard you draw. As a rough yardstick: the old 2ml disposables, such as the Elf Bar 600, were marketed at around 600 puffs, so 10ml would be about 3,000 puffs on the same assumption. Those were marketing figures based on short puffs, and real use is often lower. A big sub-ohm kit will get far fewer. Our e-liquid hub has the wider picture on strengths and bottle sizes.

Where the 600-puff figure came from

Before single-use vapes were banned in the UK in June 2025, many disposables were sold on a puff count. The best known held 2ml of liquid, the legal maximum for a nicotine tank or cartridge under regulation 36 of the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016, and claimed around 600 puffs.

That number was a manufacturer's estimate under test conditions, typically with short, consistent puffs. Plenty of people found they got fewer. So it's a useful yardstick for comparing, not a promise. Our disposable vape ban guide covers why those products went.

A rough working range

If you take the 600-per-2ml figure at face value, 10ml works out like this:

Volume Pods it fills (2ml) Puffs at the marketing rate
2ml 1 about 600
10ml Up to 5 about 3,000

In real use on a low-power pod kit, many people will land below that, because their puffs are longer than a test machine's. Treat 3,000 as the optimistic end. On a high-power sub-ohm kit, the number drops a long way, because each puff vaporises much more liquid.

The honest answer is that your own number could be a fraction of the headline figure, and that's normal.

What changes the number

Puff length. The biggest factor. A long three-second draw uses noticeably more liquid than a quick one-second puff.

Power and coil resistance. Lower-resistance coils at higher wattage vaporise more liquid per second. Our vape coil guide explains why, and mesh coils can use a little more liquid too.

Draw style. Mouth-to-lung vaping uses much less liquid than direct-to-lung. See MTL vs DTL.

VG/PG ratio. Thicker high-VG liquid produces denser vapour and tends to go faster in a sub-ohm kit. The VG/PG ratio guide covers the differences.

Waste. Priming new coils, the last bit that never quite wicks up, and the odd leak all take a share.

Nicotine strength. Indirectly. If your strength is too low, you'll probably puff more often to feel satisfied. Our guide on what nicotine strength to vape explains how to find the right level.

Why puff counts make a poor comparison

Two kits with the same 2ml pod can be advertised with very different puff counts, depending on how the maker measured them. Some count very short puffs. Some quote a figure for a whole pack of pods. Neither tells you much about how long the liquid will last you. If you're comparing kits or bottles, compare the volume in millilitres. That number is fixed by the label; the puff count isn't.

A better measure: days per bottle

Counting puffs is tedious and unreliable. A more useful habit is to note how many days a 10ml bottle lasts you. Write the date on the bottle when you open it. After a couple of bottles, you'll know your real rate, which helps you plan how much to buy and spot when something's off, like a leaking pod quietly draining liquid.

How many pods is 10ml?

UK nicotine pods hold 2ml at most, so a 10ml bottle fills up to five pods. In practice it's a bit less, because you don't fill to the brim and some liquid soaks into new coils when you prime them. If you're using refillable pods, our guide on how to refill a pod vape covers filling without waste, and how long does a vape pod last looks at the same question per pod.

Bigger bottles

Shortfills come in 50ml and 100ml bottles, but they're nicotine-free until you add shots and usually made for sub-ohm kits, which use liquid fast. The shortfills guide explains how they work.

Questions people ask

How many puffs is 10ml of vape juice?

There's no exact figure. Using the old 600-puffs-per-2ml disposable marketing as a yardstick, 10ml would be about 3,000 puffs, but real use with longer draws is often lower, and a sub-ohm kit gets far fewer.

How many 2ml pods does a 10ml bottle fill?

Up to five full 2ml pods, a little less in practice because you don't fill to the very top and some liquid is lost to priming.

How long does a 10ml bottle last?

It depends on how much you vape. A light pod user might get a week or more, a heavy user a few days. Sub-ohm users can get through 10ml in a day.
