The Best Vape Flavours, Sorted by Flavour Family

Finding the best vape flavours for you, sorted by family: fruit, ice, mint, dessert, candy and drinks, with what each tastes like and how it vapes.

The best vape flavour is the one you'll still enjoy on day thirty, and the quickest way to find it is by flavour family. Most e-liquids fall into six broad groups: fruit, ice (fruit with a cooling kick), mint, dessert, candy and drinks. Pick the family that sounds like you, then try two or three flavours within it. Below we go through each family, what to expect from it, and the flavours in our library that fit.

We haven't ranked these by popularity. There's no reliable public data for that, and what tastes good is personal anyway.

Fruit

Straight fruit flavours are sweet and juicy without the cold hit. They're a good choice if menthol or cooling agents make your throat feel sharp.

Mixed fruits tend to work better than single fruits in a vape, because one note balances another. Strawberry mango pairs a sharp berry with a soft tropical base. Watermelon apple is lighter and crisper. Blackberry strawberry leans darker and jammier, while strawberry watermelon is the summery one.

Good for: people who want sweetness without the chill, and anyone who found ice flavours too much.

Ice

Fresh fruit, mint leaves and sweets spread across a dark table, seen from above

This is the family most ex-disposable users know best. An "ice" flavour is usually fruit with a cooling agent added, so it feels cold on the inhale without tasting of mint. The cold sharpens the fruit and cuts the sweetness.

Single fruits shine here. Banana ice is soft and sweet with a cold finish. Peach ice is soft and juicy. Iced triple mango is about as full-on as mango gets.

For something a bit sharper, try Fuji melon ice, which pairs apple and melon, or iced red apple. Berry fans can head for iced blueberry or the more tropical iced strawberry passionfruit.

Then there's blue raspberry, a flavour that only really exists in sweets and vapes. Ice blue raz lemon adds a citrus edge, and tropical blue raz takes it in a tropical direction.

Good for: ex-disposable users, people who like a bold flavour, and anyone who likes a cold, crisp feel.

Mint

Mint is the cleanest family. It's less sweet, it's refreshing, and it tends to be kinder to coils than sugary flavours, so it's worth having one on rotation even if it isn't your main vape.

There's a real difference between mint types. Spearmint is sweeter and softer, closer to chewing gum. Peppermint and menthol are sharper and colder. Spearmint sits at the gentle end, and there's a second spearmint in the library if you want to compare two takes. Cool mint is crisper and colder. Mighty Mint completes the set.

Good for: former menthol smokers, people who find sweet flavours tiring, and anyone wanting a palate reset.

Dessert

Dessert flavours are rich, sweet and usually creamy. They're comforting rather than refreshing, and most people treat them as a sometimes flavour rather than an all-day one.

Lemon cake balances citrus with a soft sponge base, so it's lighter than most desserts. Strawberry ice cream is the creamier, sweeter of the two.

One practical note: dessert liquids are among the hardest on coils because of the sweeteners. If you vape them on a refillable kit, expect to change coils more often. Our burnt taste guide explains why.

Good for: evenings, sweet tooths, and people who don't like cold flavours.

Candy

Candy flavours copy specific sweets: gummies, cotton candy, bubblegum. They're sugary and nostalgic, and they're usually brighter and more artificial-tasting than fruit, which is half the appeal.

Cotton candy comes in two styles in the library: the plain blueberry cotton candy and the colder iced cotton candy. For gummy sweets, there's white gummy and the iced mango gummy. And watermelon bubblegum does exactly what the name says.

Like desserts, candy flavours are heavy on sweetener, so the same coil-life point applies.

Good for: fans of sweets, and people who want something fun rather than refreshing.

Drinks

Drink flavours copy something you'd pour rather than eat. They tend to be lighter and more refreshing than candy or dessert.

Iced apple juice is the obvious example: apple juice with a cold finish. The library also lists Bloody Bull under drinks; see its page for details.

Good for: people who find fruit flavours too sweet but still want something fruity.

How to find your flavour faster

A few habits help you narrow it down without wasting money.

Start with what you already like

If you loved a particular disposable, look for the same family. Blueberry ice, watermelon or blue razz fans will usually find something close in the ice family. Our disposable vape alternative guide has more on switching.

Change one thing at a time

If a flavour doesn't work, try a neighbour in the same family before jumping to a totally different one. If you liked banana ice but wanted it fresher, peach ice is a smaller step than going to mint.

Keep a second flavour on the go

Vaping one flavour all day can dull your sense of it. This is often called flavour fatigue. Switching to something very different, like a mint, for a few hours usually brings the first flavour back.

Try ice and non-ice versions

If a fruit flavour feels too sharp or too sweet, its ice or non-ice version can change it a lot. Cooling tends to cut sweetness and make fruit taste crisper, while a straight fruit version is softer and rounder. The library has both styles for several fruits, so it's an easy comparison to make.

Check the coil before blaming the flavour

A muted or harsh taste is often a tired coil, not a bad liquid. See how long a vape pod lasts for the signs.

Flavour and your kit

Any of these flavours will work in a standard pod kit, as long as you're using a liquid that suits your coil. Nic salts at 10mg or 20mg are the norm for pod kits; our nic salt vs freebase guide explains why. If you're still choosing a device, start with the best pod vape guide.

Prefilled pod kits only come in the brand's own flavours, so if flavour variety matters a lot to you, a refillable pod vape gives you far more to choose from.

Questions people ask

What is the best vape flavour?

There isn't one best flavour for everyone. It's easier to start with a flavour family you already like, such as cold fruit, mint or sweets, and try a few within it.

Which vape flavours are easiest on coils?

Mints and lighter fruits tend to be gentler. Very sweet dessert and candy flavours leave more residue, so coils often wear out sooner with them.

What does 'ice' mean in a vape flavour?

It means a cooling agent has been added, giving a cold feel on the inhale and exhale. It doesn't usually taste of mint unless mint is in the name.

Why does a flavour taste weaker after a few days?

Often it's flavour fatigue, where your taste gets used to one profile. Switching to something different for a day usually brings it back. It can also mean the coil is wearing out.
